Fire safety first
Safety is our top priority. Commissioned by architect D2-A and main contractor Bolckmans, in consultation with the fire department of the Port of Antwerp, the warehouse was equipped with adjustable sides. These sides can be fully opened, giving the warehouse an openness of more than 50%. This makes sprinklers and smoke hatches unnecessary. Moreover, the adjustable sides open automatically in the event of a fire, so that smoke can leave the shed as quickly as possible.
Fixed front cover - safe and free of birds
But that's not all. With us, adjustable systems are always fitted with a fixed front curtain, so that no one can get pinched between the rotating parts. At the same time, it keeps birds out of the warehouse. A real win-win situation!
Wood breathes, so do our sails
Wood is alive. Therefore, ventilating the warehouse is an important fact. A well ventilated warehouse allows the wood to dry further. The adjustable system, made of a breathable tarp, ensures that the warehouse is well ventilated even when closed.
If desired, the system can be connected to a climate computer. Thanks to a climate computer the sails will automatically close in case of rain or wind.
